Avoid tight Under garments

Tight undergarments are known to compress lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh and produce an unpleasant sensation of parasthesia and pain on thigh on outer aspect. This is known by a fancy term meralgia parasthetica. This can be helped by avoiding tight belts, waist bands and undergarments. This condition is quite common in DIABETESand Obecity.

Treatment is symptomatic. If a tender point is identified at the nerve exit a local steriod injection may alleviate the symptoms.
Drugs used include Amitriptiline,Gabapentin,Carbamazepine and pregabalin
